Debbie, Medical Assistant

It’s safe to say Debbie H. loves to walk. She joined a fitness challenge at ROC last year. The goal: walk an average of 50,000 steps each week for 52 weeks. That would be 2,600,000 steps or approximately 1,300 miles, and each employee achieving that goal earned an award. But Debbie walked an average of 135,520 steps each week, for a total of about 3,153 miles! Why? Her simple answer is “I love to walk!” Here’s a peek into her daily routine: 5am workout on treadmill, bike, or elliptical, walking around the ROC clinic while welcoming and rooming patients, stopping by the Marina for 3 laps on her way home from work, and walking even more while watching tv in the evenings.

She also hiked to the top of Mt. Rose twice last year and joined a walking challenge with her daughter. She admits to being just a wee bit competitive!

Debbie has been Dr. Zebrack’s Medical Assistant for 11 years. Besides Dr. Z, her favorite part of her job is the time she spends with patients, and would rather be ‘on the floor’ than doing follow-up paperwork!
