OSCAR (Opioid Sparing Care And Recovery)™

Reno Orthopedic Surgery Center is the first facility in the State of Nevada Certified to offer Opioid Sparing Care And Recovery.

What is OSCAR (Opioid Sparing Care And Recovery)™?

In a groundbreaking effort to transform patient care, Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC) is proud to announce the launch of the state’s first Opioid-Sparing Orthopedic Surgery Program, OSCAR (Opioid Sparing Care And Recovery)™, a comprehensive initiative designed to offer patients effective, non-addictive pain management solutions for common orthopedic procedures. This innovative program sets a new standard in musculoskeletal care and aims to significantly reduce opioid use, accelerate recovery, and enhance long-term health outcomes for patients across Nevada.

With the growing opioid crisis and its devastating impact on individuals, families, and communities, ROC has taken a bold step to ensure that orthopedic patients have access to safe, opioid-sparing or opioid-free alternatives during and after surgery. The new program will combine cutting-edge pain management techniques, including regional anesthesia, cryoneurolysis, enhanced recovery protocols, and multimodal analgesia to ensure patients experience minimal pain, a faster recovery time, and a reduced risk of opioid dependency.

Dr. Renny Uppal, President at ROC, explained, “Our mission is to provide patients with the most advanced, compassionate care possible. By offering opioid-sparing or opioid-free surgical options, we are empowering our patients to recover faster and more safely, all while reducing their exposure to the risks associated with opioid medications.”

OSCAR (Opioid Sparing Care And Recovery)™ will be available for any surgery performed at Reno Orthopedic Surgery Center. Every patient enrolled in the program will receive a personalized pain management plan tailored to their specific surgical needs, focusing on alternative therapies that avoid opioids altogether.
