Naomi Albertson, MD, is Board Certified in Family Practice and specializes in sports medicine. She received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Her internship in family practice was completed at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. She completed her sports medicine fellowship training at Stanford University, San Jose Medical Center in Palo Alto, California.
At the Reno Orthopedic Clinic, Dr. Albertson is part of the sports team. She is not a surgeon but does work closely with the sports medicine orthopedic surgeons. In addition to facilitating an appropriate work up for surgical problems and treating emergent and non-emergent injuries, she is an expert in the treatment of overuse injuries, sport related nutritional problems, concussion management, guiding athletes of all levels in appropriate activities to minimize injury, and can develop an appropriate personalized exercise program following injury or surgery.
She works with individuals who want to begin a safe and effective exercise program and are interested in improving their athletic performance. She is a certified ImPACT© (Immediate Post-concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) counselor and works closely with athletes who have suffered a sports related concussion.
Additionally, Dr. Albertson is certified by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry to treat bone disorders. She is passionate about prevention of osteopenia and osteoporosis and focused on helping active adults stay active. She is so determined that she developed the first bone health supplement of its kind to address both bone health and muscle strength. Dr. Albertson is also fluent in Spanish. Since completing her training, Dr. Albertson has practiced medicine in private practice in California’s Bay Area and in Jackson, Wyoming. She began practicing at the Reno Orthopedic Clinic in 2013.
